  • An early composition for your enjoyment

An early composition for your enjoyment, critical thoughts, or an object to vent your hate at if you have no sense of humor. I spent 10 or 12 years on a very stable production crew in the church world before my “retirement.” I was still the new guy on the audio crew when I left. The lighting crew, God Bless them, were inspiring. After a drunken evening featuring a “rap song” they made in the drive thru on the iPhone, they shared and I was inspired to answer. Classic East coast / West coast kind of thing between departments. That and a little Spike Jones flavor. I was good at my job, this song production stuff, I dunno. 🙂

WOAH! haha – this is the coolest “rap beef” I’ve heard of! Lighting crew vs. Audio crew, 😂 I love it. And, as always @-PT, so many super fun, quirky, unexpected sounds and sonic surprises! Here are a few very technical, very critical questions I have for you:

    1. How was this “dis” track received by Lighting crew? Were they amazed?!
    2. Did they retaliate?

Nice twist your own self with the technical critique question. As expected they cowered upon hearing it, never thought of retaliation, and will remember me forever.

Jesse, I appreciate the word! Positive feedback always feels good and helps further one’s determination to progress and get even better. Progress on the path is so dependent on having the vocabulary to discuss the topic, be it music production related or anything else. Little steps of understanding lead to bigger steps, and sooner than you think, you realize how little you know of the topic at hand. I’m thinking it’s a lifetime journey. -PT

Greatness! Love the track & the production. This has the sound of a 2 inch 24 track analog console recording. Great clarity & super clean. Nice!

Thx, truth be known it’s all in the box, 57 on a banjo, KBs direct into a cheap DI, a large diaphram MXL on vocals, the NEVE console channel strips everywhere on the DAW, a couple flavors of saturation on select channels, soft clipping in the mastering process, and most importantly, judicious use of space in the arrangement.

That’s actually good to hear as I am all in the box as well. Something I can work on then.

This is classic work rap beef. Haha this made my morning PT. Thanks for this

It would be wild to see a retaliation track surface on the good old internet one day. One can hope!
