  • Sonarworks Virtual Monitoring software

    Dana,

I’m wondering if you have any experience with the seemingly new ( I just got the email today) Virtual Monitoring software addition to Sonarworks Sound ID? Your smiling face shows up on their list of luminaries and I’m hoping you were a beta tester and had some insight.

For those scratching your head … the folks at Sonarworks make a software that basically transform non linear (in the frequency domain) headphones into expensive sounding neutral headphone we can EQ our work with confidence. This new product I’m asking about addresses the time domain. By taking a controlled measurement IN THE ROOM you want to model, the software can simulate the acoustic space. ie, a great sounding studio or more likely getting to listen in YOUR home studio acoustic environment … but in headphones. Way cool. I’m learning to enjoy reverb, but excited about putting my stuff in a 4th dimension.

    Whaddya know?

    Hey, @-PT!

I’m super excited to try out the new Virtual Monitoring Pro. I’m looking at the box right now, haha! They sent me their new binaural measurement headphones mic to check out, and I’m so excited to do just that. I’m working out the routing for my setup so I can listen on headphones with and without virtual monitoring, which is extra involved since my Avid MTRX Studio interface is Digilink-based, not Core Audio. But as soon as I have it set up I’ll be stoked to share my thoughts!

Curious if anyone else here in MP has given it a whirl!
