@bryan!! So glad you’re here, and thanks for starting this thread — a topic I love and am always researching and experimenting with. My fav tools for mix review and collaboration are:
- Muse — amazing, and I don’t understand how it’s free! For me, it replaces a lot of other software for virtual meetups, cause it includes chat, video cam, screen share, remote screen control, etc. I tend to use Muse for 1:1 consulting and songwriting collabs.
- Source Nexus Suite — I’ve used Nexus for many years for mix streaming/approvals as well as remote recording/mixing. And now it’s more powerful than ever w/ the new “Suite” of tools they’ve released. There’s a free option, but you’ll prob end up wanting the paid option for all the bells and whistles. Nexus suite has vid, chat, screenshare, insanely flexible virtual soundcard driver and router (replacing Loopback software), works entirely in web browser so clients don’t need to download any software. It’s also got the best audio quality w least amount of artifacts and dropouts based on my experience. This is what I use when I’m presenting to high profile clients. Very clean interface, I pay all costs for the service so my clients have a great, easy experience when joining my listening sessions. FWIW u can see me demo’ing Nexus in response to a Mix Protege thread about mixing live on iphone (which is a super cool hack!)
Would love to hear about anyone else’s preferred methods for remote mix review and online collaboration! 💻

Hahaha – love it, @detective, and I’m willing to bet that song title hasn’t been registered before at ASCAP/BMI lol, triple-bonus-points for unique title and subject matter! 🙌😂. I love @Gage‘s idea, too, for the Weather Channel usage – lol, that’s perfect. AND/OR your local radio morning show! Nice work, man!

Woah, amazing @smoothygroove – You rule!!! Thanks for sharing these great freebies – I can’t wait to check them out!

Hey @Gage and @detective! Been merging in our threads to this discussion so that other members can find the full shebang in one place and follow along. Thank you both for your excellent shares and contributions! ⚡️🤘
Alex!! Love this! If u have it in u, could u copy\/paste what u wrote and reupload the audio to the Member Spotlight forum? 🙏🏻. Meantime, here’s an explanation on how to do that, as well as some mix thoughts. The mix is fantastic, as are you!
Thanks a Milly Dana! Sorry for being a tourist and not uploading correctly whoops. I will do that correct next time. Also, thanks so much for taking the time out and listening and giving great feedback. I will totally attempt what you said and think it really does just need that aggressive punch. Kicks a little flat comparative to the wide bass. Mucho respect!!
Alex,
First listen and immediate reaction…
I’d bet the reason you’re questioning the low end of your mix is because how different it is from the wonderfully controlled mid and top end. Your arrangement allows the listener to easily navigate back into the mix to find the stereo percussive ear candy and into the vocal reverb without having to machete through density. It’s a pleasure to listen to. Vocal articulation is paramount to my biases. Super clean and accessible.
The bass guitar and kick drum have a wholly different vibe. Comparatively I hear them as woolly, the direct opposite of the rest of your luscious mix. They’re (kick and bass) not as available to my ears and other listeners. I’m thinking bass and kick with a mid and high end component would compliment what you’ve got cooking and make it even better. Great work.Detective Tucci
Detective Tucci,
Haha I love this. Appreciate the beautiful detail of your listening notes. Absolutely agree with the low-mid and low-high end clarity. Exactly what I believe Dana was alluding to so that’s what I’ll clean up. Push a little more aggression into the kick. Thanks so much for the listen, compliments and energy detective!!

Haha – yeah, man, awesome catchy track! And I agree w/ @Gage about the (clean version) sync-ability lol. It’s catchy right off the bat with that guitar progression and beat, and it’s a different/unique sound that grabs your attention and draws you in, which is key for sync stuff. I am by no means a sync expert — I’ve had my fair share of them, but certainly not enough to be teaching others how to do it haha. Consistent sync success remains an elusive tantalizing mystery to me 🔮. You should check out @roy-matz‘s amazing podcast series “Sync Gems” – it’s great, and Roy’s awesome!
Keep up the great work, Paul! … and u know I admire your :30 punk rock format 👌😂

Administratorat 1:13 am in reply to: Would love some Mix Feedback – Hold Me In Your ArmsI LOVE the fact that these “older”/past forum discussions can be enjoyed by folks “newer” to the community! — for production/mixing ideas, witty/constructive banter, and best of all awesome music! And heck yeah, @smoothygroove, such a baddass, dark n’ vibey jam. Was a treat to hear it again! ⚡️ Hit us w/ your updated mix if ur so inclined!

Yeah man!! Right?… pretty amazing tool for reclaiming valuable headroom, especially when a bit of crunch on the source is desirable too. I’ve come back to this plugin a number of times since making this vid to use it on various sources. Super cool!

We missed u, @detective and can’t wait to hear your (mostly) true stories next time!! I hope your new knee is perfect and that you’re healing well, man!

Awe, thank you brother! And, damn man, fantastic collab work producing this happy-party-good-vibes jam!!! It is so good. ❤️🔥
