Hi Jesse! Just saw this post and it seems like you have your answer, perhaps it’s a software output setting.
I’ve actually been having the opposite problem, where I record for a few hours and then realize my ears are ringing and I had my headphones too loud, i tend to crank my in-ears especially. Anyhow I just picked up this new device called the DB Check Pro by Sensaphonics, which calibrates to your headphone model and gives you a DB average and tells you how long it is safe to be exposed.
Pretty cool and I hope you are well!!!

Thanks so much Jesse!!! Great to hear from you!! I do hope to make a solo guitar vocal album at some point soon, I was pretty inspired by the recent Jason Isbell Foxes In The Snow album, such good performances and I love the sonics of it.
Not too much going on with processing on the track – only EQ is a high pass at 80hz on my preamp, then a little bit of the Audioscape ‘Opto’ comp, – on the ‘mid’ mic, and a little bit of de-esser too. Using the Seventh Heaven reverb, with high and low pass on the reverb send, like Dana mentioned in his recent reverb email!! I also used a little bit of Soothe and the Pro L2 when mastering.
I don’t know how you usually record electric guitar, but it’s something i’ve always struggled to capture in the perfect way..!
Cheers and hope all is well!!!

Thank so much, Dana!! I really appreciate the kind words!! I’m using a C12 replica made by Bill Bradley, love that mic – and then a Cascade fathead for the side. It seems to work for what I do and it’s pretty simple & quick to set up, which is a big plus for me! Cheers and thanks for taking the time to listen, hope all is well!!!

Going to check out the ADPTR plug – have always wondered about how to anticipate the way the streaming services (and socials) crunch the audio.
