Jesse, this is such a beautiful song! I got a serious José González right from the start. I think your structure totally works, and I love the texture. There’s a really nice ambience to it – like you’ve run everything through tape. And that trombone! If she doesn’t hire herself out as a freelancer (although that’s the old joke: what’s the definition of an optimist – a studio trombone player with a pager😄), maybe she should. Completely solid, beautiful tone, the sustain – spot on. My only comment on the production, is that the key seemed just a tiny bit too low. You really got down there in the first verse (you pulled it off), but maybe a half step or a whole step up might be a little bit better suited for your range. Don’t get me wrong – I love your voice, and you should definitely be getting back into more singing, for sure. Great job👍🏻

I’m not quite sure yet. All of the “New” features I can already do in Logic (Stem Sep/Midi Mute & Split/bounce in place/audible note preview/Monark, Massive, Prism – I’ve had for years). And I agree – of the reviews i’ve read are all Underwhelming. The included Ozone Mastering Software I have (v9), but stopped using it because of the CPU hit. Logic has that now, and I’m happy with it.

That being said I may just say wtf and get it for the new Central Library😄 I’m a sucker for NI updates!

  • Hey David – that’s the problem with @dana – he makes you feel unusually comfortable! It’s a great hang – I hope you can make it next time👍🏻

Saaaaaweeeeet Track Alex! – Great vibe for sure.

(I made these notes before reading Dana’s masterclass, on point observations!)

    1. Everything Dana said.
    2. The panning at the beginning is somewhat disorienting. I’d suggest it being more subtle in the mix and dropping out from time to time for variation
    3. I wanted to hear those vocals a little more up front in the mix

Just a couple of creative notes that you can take/leave

    1. Perhaps intersperse some harmonies/efx on specific phrases periodically for some ear candy
    2. Maybe every 4th snare hit could have a med/long reverb for some texture
    3. I wanted to hear a bit more of the string pad. Very nicely used sparingly

And lastly – That Kick hits hard!😎

    Great Job

I LOVE These! So much fun and funkiness. O Come, O Come, Emmanuel is so punchy. You cover all the bases: Sax/Juno/Bells/Electro Drums/Recorder😄. And that voice – fugetaboutit. Put a fork in me – I’m done😍.

  • Thanks Dana! It feels good to be back👍🏻

    Nice! It’s pretty craaaaaazy🤪

  • Love these notes! Thanks so much Dana. Already on it. Opting for AGRO😎

  • Thanks for listening David! I appreciate the feedback 😊

  • Thanks J – As usual, on point 🙂 I’ll tweak that transition, try some side chaining for the kick, and sprinkle some pixie dust eq on the snare.

    Appreciate it!

  • Hi Paul – Sorry for the delay – Still getting over the flu, and have been out of pocket.

I think you’re referring to the drums around 1:08. I’ve got two tracks going: A snare side stick with verb from a Battery kit, and 2 drums from Maschine “Bleu Tails Kit”. The Maschine hits have the variation, with the Tamb hit. Not too much trickery!
