Yo! I mostly use harmonic distortion tools (console plugins, tape plugins, some distortion plugins, etc) and haven’t really messed w the clipping plugins on the market but have been curious. Are those what you’re talking about? Any you’ve found usefull?

@Garry , @dolph , @Chappy , and @EvB … I’m curious: any of u using “clipping” plugins in your mixing? Anything worth checking out? I had my eye on this Boz Little Clipper for a minute, but never pulled the trigger. Also just noticing Brainworks makes one that I bet is included in my Mega Bundle thingy with them. Maybe I’ll give that one a try first.

I’ve had a lot of fun with the JST clipper (kick and snare) and the Kzrog Clipper (better for busses)

I got the Boz big clipper. Can’t say I feel like I’ve got a good handle on using it though. But I sometimes use it on my snare and kick bus.
I have found, with the kick especially, that it helps me get a bit more perceived volume out of it. I thinking it’s because it’s not making my compressors down the line react as much to the low end info. 🤷♂️-
Right on, Jon, thanks for ur insight on the Boz! Gonna check that out!

Wound up making a quick lil vid today on the topic… chime in with any thoughts!

Wow, I’m pretty surprised how much headroom that freed up on the Master fader.
Thanks for making this! And thanks @Michael for kicking this chat off.-
Right? So handy and fun controlling transients, preserving mix headroom, and adding “loudness” and vibe all with one tool and a few knobs!

Cool vid Dana and yes I’ve been wondering about these too. Might try messing with them more on a drum bus situation. Crazy how much headroom you gained though, wow!

Yeah man!! Right?… pretty amazing tool for reclaiming valuable headroom, especially when a bit of crunch on the source is desirable too. I’ve come back to this plugin a number of times since making this vid to use it on various sources. Super cool!
